1) About these Terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Joyna websites, mobile applications and related services (collectively, the “Services”). They incorporate our Acceptable Use Policy and Privacy Policy (together, the “Policies”). By creating an account, clicking “Sign up,” or using the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
These Terms are written for the United Kingdom only and are governed by UK law as set out below.
2) Who we are
The Services are provided by Joyna Ltd (“Joyna,” “we,” “us”). Our address is 5th Floor, 167–169 Great Portland Street, London, W1W 5PF, United Kingdom.
3) Eligibility & Accounts
You must be at least 13 to use the Services. If you are under the age at which you can enter a contract, your parent/guardian must review and agree to these Terms and is responsible for your use.
You agree to provide accurate, current information and to keep it updated.
Keep your password confidential; you are responsible for activity on your account. Notify us promptly of any unauthorised use.
You may use third-party logins (e.g., Apple/Google). Their terms will apply to that login method.
4) Your privacy
Please read our Privacy Policy to understand how we collect, use, share and protect your personal information and how to manage your privacy settings. We comply with UK data protection law (UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018). You can contact us about privacy at anna@joynarun.com.
5) Third-party services & APIs
Some features connect with third-party services (for example, app stores, maps, device integrations, or fitness platforms). Their terms and privacy policies apply to your use of those features. You are responsible for complying with them.
6) Subscriptions, fees & auto-renewal
Some features require a paid subscription. Prices include applicable taxes where required.
If you subscribe via Apple App Store or Google Play, billing, free trials, cancellations and refunds are handled by that store and its terms.
Auto-renewal: Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period unless you cancel before the renewal date. We’ll explain renewal terms clearly at sign-up and provide instructions for cancellation.
Changing prices: We may change subscription fees on renewal. We’ll give reasonable notice and a chance to cancel before changes take effect.
7) Free trials & promotions
Free trials run for the period shown at sign-up. Unless you cancel before the end of the trial, your subscription converts to a paid plan and the then-current fee will be charged by your chosen platform.
8) Your right to cancel (UK “cooling-off”)
If you purchase a subscription directly from Joyna (not via an app store), you have 14 days from purchase to cancel for any reason and receive a full refund, provided you have not consented to immediate supply of digital content or started using subscriber-only features. If you ask us to start providing the Services during the cooling-off period, you lose the right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 once supply begins. To cancel, email anna@joynarun.com.
(If you subscribed via Apple/Google, please follow their cancellation and refund process.)
9) Cancellation & termination
You can cancel your subscription at any time (effective at the end of the current billing period). You may also delete your account. We may suspend or terminate your account where we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms or our Policies, to protect users, comply with law, or address security/operational risks. Where appropriate, we may offer an appeal route.
10) Your content and licence to Joyna
You retain ownership of content you upload or create on the Services (e.g., activities, posts, photos, route notes) (“Content”). You grant Joyna a non-exclusive, transferable, sub-licensable, royalty-free, worldwide licence to host, use, reproduce, adapt, publish, translate, distribute, display and create derivative works from your Content for operating, improving and promoting the Services. This licence ends when you delete the Content or your account, except to the extent your Content has been shared with others and they have not deleted it, or for backups and legal obligations.
You are responsible for your Content and confirm you have all necessary rights and permissions, and that it does not infringe others’ rights or break the law. You can set visibility/preferences using our privacy controls.
11) Community & acceptable use
You must follow our Acceptable Use Policy and Community Standards. We may monitor, hide, restrict or remove Content that breaches our rules or the law. You may be exposed to Content you find offensive—use your judgment and report issues to us.
12) Non-commercial use; links & feeds
The Services are for personal, non-commercial use unless we agree otherwise in writing. You may create a text link to our Services for non-commercial purposes that does not misrepresent or disparage Joyna. We may withdraw linking permissions at any time.
13) Health & safety disclaimer
Joyna does not provide medical advice. Always seek advice from a qualified professional about your health. Your outdoor activities carry risks (including injury or worse). You participate at your own risk and are responsible for exercising judgment about routes, conditions, lighting, traffic, surroundings and personal safety.
14) Safety features & recommendations
Joyna may provide safety-related features (e.g., lighting-aware routing, route variability prompts, “safety pins,” or community insights). These features are advisory only and may be incomplete, inaccurate or unavailable. Always make your own assessment and prioritise your safety.
15) Intellectual property
The Services (including software, design, look and feel, trademarks and content provided by Joyna) are protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a personal, revocable, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, non-exclusive licence to use the Services in accordance with these Terms. You must not reverse engineer or create derivative works from the Services except where permitted by law.
Third-party trademarks and content belong to their owners and are used with permission or under licence.
16) Notices of IP infringement (UK)
If you believe material on the Services infringes your UK copyright or other IP rights, please email anna@joynarun.com with: (a) your contact details; (b) identification of the work/rights claimed; (c) the URL/location of the material; (d) why you believe it infringes; and (e) a statement of good-faith belief and that the information is accurate. We may share your notice with the user who posted the material. We will respond in accordance with applicable UK law.
17) Beta features
We may release features in beta/early access. They may be unstable or change at any time. Use is at your own risk and subject to these Terms. If you give us feedback, you grant Joyna a perpetual, royalty-free licence to use it.
18) Service changes
We may improve, modify or discontinue parts of the Services to maintain performance, security and legal compliance. If we make material changes that significantly impact you, we’ll give reasonable notice where practicable.
19) Warranties & disclaimers
The Services are provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not promise they will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that data (including maps, lighting, crime or other datasets) will be accurate or complete. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude all implied warranties.
20) Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under UK law.
If you are using the Services as a consumer, we are responsible for foreseeable loss and damage caused by our failure to use reasonable care and skill, but we are not responsible for loss or damage that is not foreseeable, caused by your misuse, or that results from events outside our reasonable control. We do not exclude liability for digital content that damages your device or digital content due to our failure to use reasonable care and skill.
If you use the Services for business purposes, we exclude all implied conditions, warranties and representations to the maximum extent permitted by law and will not be liable for loss of profits, revenue, business, goodwill, or for indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability arising from or in connection with the Services in any 12-month period shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid to Joyna for the Services in that period, or (b) £50.
Your statutory rights are not affected.
21) Indemnity (non-consumer use)
If you use the Services for business purposes, you agree to indemnify Joyna against claims arising from your Content, your breach of these Terms, or your misuse of the Services, to the extent permitted by law.
22) Communications
We may send you service notices and information electronically (in-app, email, or via the site). These satisfy legal notice requirements. You can manage marketing preferences in your settings.
23) Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If we make material changes, we will provide reasonable advance notice (e.g., in-app or email). Continued use after changes take effect means you agree to the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you should stop using the Services and, if applicable, cancel your subscription and/or delete your account.
24) Governing law & jurisdiction (UK)
These Terms and any dispute or claim (including non-contractual disputes or claims) are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may bring proceedings in your local courts.
25) General
These Terms are the entire agreement between you and Joyna about the Services. If any provision is found invalid, the rest remains in force. We can assign our rights and obligations; you may not assign yours without our consent. No delay or failure to enforce rights is a waiver. Section headings are for convenience only.

Data Privacy Policy
Your privacy matters to us. At Joyna, we want you to feel safe, in control, and confident about how your data is used.
Your choice comes first. We will always ask your permission before collecting personal data such as location or photos. You can change your settings or withdraw consent at any time.
Download your data. You can request a copy of your Joyna account information — including your activities, routes, and profile details — at any time.
Control what you share. You decide whether your activities are visible to everyone, just your followers, or only you. Default settings for under-18 users are more restrictive to protect young people.
Your content, your rights. You own the content you upload. If you delete your account, your activities and profile will be permanently removed from Joyna’s systems. (We may retain anonymised, aggregated route data to help improve the service for the community, but this can’t be linked back to you.)
No health data yet. Joyna does not currently collect or process health-related data (such as heart rate). If this changes in the future, we’ll always ask for your explicit consent first.
Safety by design. Features such as hidden start/end points and route-sharing controls are built to help you manage what others see about your running routines.
Your privacy settings. Joyna offers a range of privacy controls so you can choose what you share with other runners and with the public. You can adjust these any time in your app settings.
If you have questions or want to manage your data, please contact us at anna@joynarun.com.
